Painted quilt blocks are a great way to expand your love for quilts to the outdoors!  In this class we will be painting a 2-foot square block.  The materials provided will all be exterior grade including the primed sign board, paints, and clear coat so the blocks will withstand the weather and last as long as possible. Participants may choose from a group of patterns available or may choose their own pattern if it fits within our requirements.  We will not be doing any advanced blocks, curved designs, or applique-type designs (brands, Wyoming bucking horse, etc.) in this class - you can learn the techniques here and go on to paint blocks that require more time on your own!  

We will start with a primed board and teach you how to mark out your block and tape and paint the shapes and borders.  The class will be held in the building next to Lickety Stitch Quilts, which is a garage-type setting with no air conditioning.   You will leave with your quilt block painted with clear coat to apply a few days after the paint has cured.  

Some supplies will be shared.  Thus, you may find it helpful to bring those listed below so you don't have to wait to use them:

Long straight-edge ruler - metal is good as they are thinner and easier to mark along.  We have a few to share but if you have a 36" or 48" metal yardstick, it will come in handy as you won't have to wait on others using ours.

A couple shorter straight edge rulers - 12" long is a good length for marking lines, we like a 6" ruler also to use for trimming tape. We do use our quilting rulers!
