Our retreats focus on offering opportunities for open sewing time for working on personal projects as well as frequent demos for perfecting quilting and related craft skills and a fun mystery project. Optional classes may be offered, and those who are registered will be informed of them as soon as we have details worked out.
Join us for a 3-day or 6-day retreat dedicated to sewing, quilting, and crafting. This is a great opportunity to step away from the distractions of daily living to focus on whatever project you have been dreaming about. Plan to shop at Lickety Stitch Quilts to get all the supplies you need. Pick up a new project, a kit, or the sashing and borders for those blocks you have in a stack in your sewing room! Attack those UFO's, especially the ones you need some advice or help with, as experienced quilters will be there to advise you. Enjoy the energy and camaraderie of our sewing community. Space is limited.
Cost for the 3 days will be $170 and for 6 days will be $330.
We added the 6-day option because so many of our attendees want to stay all week and this gives them a price break.
Set Up Times:
For those of you coming for the first session, the doors to the Fair Building will be open from 6-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, so you can check in and unload your machines and supplies into the building and get set up if you so desire. You may also check in after 8 a.m. Monday morning. For those of you coming for the second session, you may bring your machines and supplies from 5-6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28 or after 8 the next morning.
Things to bring:
Please bring a long extension cord as some tables are quite far from the outlets. If you have more than one item to plug in - like irons, lights, etc, you will want to have a cord with multiple outlets.
The chairs provided are metal folding chairs so we suggest bringing your own favorite sewing chair or a cushion to make yourself more comfortable. Although the lighting is adequate, you may choose to bring a table sewing light if you feel it would be helpful. There will be several irons and ironing boards scattered around the room to share. You may bring your own iron and ironing board if you choose.
Also remember your sewing machine, the feet, cord and foot pedal to your machine plus all the necessary sewing and cutting notions you will need as well as fabric and supplies for your projects.
Meals:
Some meals are being catered and some will be brought in from local eateries. Three noon meals and two evening meals will be provided each 3-day session (10 meals total for the 6-day session). (No evening meals on Wednesday or Saturday.) PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to provide for special or restricted diets. This means if you are salt restricted, gluten or lactose free, or otherwise dietarily restricted that some or all the meals may not fit in with your diet as there is bread, pasta, etc. included in most meals. If you are on a special or restricted diet, we suggest you bring your own food in an insulated chest. We also have a grocery store in town where you can purchase what you need. Water, iced tea, hot tea, and coffee will available during the day. Snacks will be available, and you are welcome to bring your own or some to share. No breakfast will be served. We are asking everyone to bring their own reusable water bottle/cup to cut down on the need for disposable plastic bottles. We will have water available to refill cups but not in plastic bottles.
ACTIVITIES:
Our retreats offer a great opportunity to work on and finish those projects you have dreamed of, planned, or started. However, we have found that some of you like to have an organized group-project/class to participate in and we will be offering a couple of projects each session for you to participate in. These plans are still being decided upon and will be sent out nearer the date.
As always, we have several extra activities planned - our popular Sample Spree Give-away, and we are working on arranging other special events and they will be announced as soon as we get plans finalized.
Registration procedure:
A release of liability form will be presented to each participant to sign at the registration desk when you arrive. We request everyone wear a name tag and tags with lanyards will be provided. However, if you have a name tag of your own you prefer, please feel free to wear it.
No smoking, vaping, or tobacco is allowed in the Fairgrounds building. Please bring ear buds if you wish to listen to music. We try to keep the temperature comfortable for everyone but bring a jacket or sweater as some areas in the room are cooler than others. Also, due to sensitivities to fragrances and essential oils by some of our attendees, please do not wear strong fragrances, use scented soaps or diffuse any oils or scents during the retreat.
Because of space constraints with the large number of attendees, we will not be able to accommodate unregistered guests for either meals or as visitors in the retreat. Thanks for your understanding!
There may be changes between now and May – we will keep everyone who is registered updated as we can. We will be assigning tables and want to accommodate groups as much as possible. In order to do this, we need to know who would like to be seated together so put that information in the comments section when you sign up. We will do our best to seat groups together, with 4 being the maximum at a table group. Those who sign up for 6-day retreat will be seated in groups they request, but we may not be able to seat groups together where some sign up for 6 and some for 3 due to logistics. We promise to do our best - and usually are able to work it out!
REGISTRATION:
We are opening up 30 seats to 6-day reservations and 30 seats in each of the 1st and 2nd sessions of the week. There will be a waiting list available when those seats are full. After March we will adjust the number of seats as needed.
Reservations will be accepted until all seats are filled, then a waiting list will be available online. We will contact those on the wait list in order of their signing up, so it is important to sign up as soon as possible. Seats will be limited. Full payment of $170 for the 3-day and $330 for the 6-day session is required to reserve a seat, which includes a $7.50 non-refundable booking fee which will also apply if changes are made after the initial reservation (changing from one session to another).
REFUND POLICY:
The registration less the $7.50 will be refunded if you notify us you are unable to attend up to 2 weeks BEFORE RETREAT STARTS. Refunds can only be made to the credit card to which they are originally charged unless they are paid for by cash or check.
MOTELS:
If you are coming from out of town and need motel reservations, there are 5 motels in town plus a few VRBOs. Best Western Pioneer Motel at 307-334-2640, Town House Motel at 307-334-2376, and Trail Motel at 307-334-2530 often offer group rates if you mention you are attending the Quilt Retreat.
