We have in 3 new patterns from Doodle Time Designs - Last Minute Mug Mat Extravaganza which includes 24 different paper piecing patterns for the center designs – a great place to try out paper piecing on a small project.  The second is “The Pocket Pouch” which re-purposes those old jean pockets into something wonderfully usable.  The third is “Last Minute Centerpiece”, a fun 13 ½” octagonal place mat with several different center paper piecing options.

VISIT US ON THE WEB –

Lickety Stitch is now a web-store as well as a brick-and-mortar store.  You can visit us at www.licketystitchquilts.com and place your orders over the internet.  It is a huge project to get all the products in the store posted onto the website so that will be an ongoing project.  I will try to keep all the newest products added as they arrive then continue adding in-stock products as I have time.  I was expecting to have lots of slow days in January and February to work on this project – but I am happy to say there have been very few slow days so far!  Customers are the basis of the business, and I am thrilled that business continues to be good.  I thank all of you, my customers, for spreading the word about our store to the quilting community in your areas.

KWIK-SEW PATTERNS -- Kwik Sew patterns have arrived! I will not be stocking the whole line in the store, but the catalogue is here for you to look through and we will order any patterns desired that are not in stock.

CLASSES -

We are offering two classes this spring through the community education outreach.  Sewing Basics will be offered Thursday evenings April 7, 14 and 28.  Sew Easy Jellyroll Rail Fence Quilt class will be offered Wednesday afternoons, March 2, 9 and 16.    Contact me if you have any questions or the community education office if you wish to sign up for one of the classes.

MINKY FABRICS –

What is the newest backing to use on your quilts to make them extra soft and snuggly?  MINKY!  It all started with the Cuddle Kits that have been very popular ever since we introduced them in the store back in September.  We have added to our selection of kits and also to the available colors and patterns of Minky fabrics.  The question is often asked – are they hard to sew?  If you have a walking foot or even-feed foot, you will find that helpful.  Use extra pins to keep the fabrics in place as you stitch.  They are actually quite forgiving as they have some stretch. Ask about the quilt-as-you-go method that makes the project even easier and faster.  Try using Minky on the back of a baby or child’s quilt – it is guaranteed to become their favorite!

FAVORITE PRODUCTS  -

It always brings me a thrill when someone buys a product on my recommendation then the next time they come in they are RAVING about how they love it.  I have my favorites and I try to let everyone know what they are as we visit in the store, but I know that I miss telling some of you about them. I am going to get on my soapbox here and tell you about a few products.

GYPSY GRIPPER –

Have you noticed the big purple handle on the ruler I use to cut fabrics?  The Gypsy Gripper fastens to your plastic rulers with suction cups and gives you a firm grip on what is often a slippery, hard to hold steady ruler as you cut along it with your rotary cutter.  It is much easier to keep the ruler from sliding with the Gripper – and safer too as your fingers are out of the way of the blade.  I give this product 5 stars – and need to order in more as they have been flying out the door lately. Two customers this week came in with exactly the same expression about the Gypsy Gripper they purchased last week:  “I LOVE IT!”  This also makes a great gift for any quilter if they don’t already have one.  Now we also have the “In-between Gripper” and the “Little Gripper” for use on smaller rulers.

GLOVES-IN-A-BOTTLE LOTION–

We have had this product in the store for a couple months and customers who have tried it love it! It really is more than just a lotion – it helps prevent and/or heal those painful cracks in your finger tips that appear this time of the year.  Also helps heal and protect if you are in a profession where you are exposed to harsh substances or have to wash your hands often.  Gloves-in-a-bottle seals in hydration and doesn’t wash off like other lotions.  It gradually wears off and then will need reapplied – meanwhile it is working to protect your skin from dryness, bacteria,  and harmful agents that you are exposed to daily.   Best results are seen with regular use.
