Niobrara Strong Celebration June 4, 2016
I wonder if Noah and his family measured all events from "before or after the flood?" For the past year, that has been the way we have referred to many things.  It is hard to believe that it has already been a year since a torrential 8" rain up the creek 10 miles caused the Niobrara River, usually a trickle, to become a roaring monster pouring over its banks and down the streets.  This has been a year of rebuilding and repairing for many in Lusk.  We are often asked - are you back to normal?  We have to say, we have a "new normal" - a catastrophe like we experienced leaves scars and changes things so they will never be quite the same - but that is not to say they can't be just as good or even better.

In celebrating the recovery of our town, Lusk plans a day of fun events for the 4th of June, 2016.  Here at Lickety Stitch Quilts, we are going to celebrate with some extreme sales, inside the store as well as on the sidewalk.

Love Notes from Lusk

When you visit Lusk and Niobrara County - keep your eyes open for painted quilt blocks!  We have initiated the "Lusk - the heart of the Wyoming Quilt Trail" project where over 100 quilt blocks are being painted and hung on homes, businesses, fences, barns, garages - where ever there is space.  These blocks are like little "love notes" with no purpose but to surprise and delight our community and visitors - and to beautify the places we live and work.  We hope to inspire other Wyoming communities to do the same - and that travelers will soon be able to see these pops of color and design all over the state.

Quilting Tips and Tricks
Which is better, seams pressed open or seams pressed to the side?  Does it make a difference? Marci Baker, author and quilt professional, did a thorough test and comparison on this subject.  Read her findings here:  seams-pressed-open-can-be-a-nightmare
