ROAM is such a fun pattern to make!  We are glad you are joining us for this class.  On January 10 we will work on the string pieced blocks that make up the front half of your buffalo.  You will need at least 14 foundations cut 8 1/2" X 8 1/2".  If you use paper foundations you will remove them after completing the blocks so choose light weight paper. We used foundation blocks cut from regular cotton fabrics, which you leave in. You may want to have a couple extra foundation blocks available in case you decide to remake a block.

Bring an assortment of fabrics to cut into your 1" to 2" wide strips.(Or you can do this step at home).  In our sample we used many shades of brown, gray, black, dark blue, purple and dark green.  In each block there are 20 to 24 fabrics used!  The pattern suggests starting with 50 strings that are at least 12" long but if it happens to be one of your favorite strings, bring it along even if it is short.  You can work it in somehow!

You will need (14) 2" x 2" squares for the centers of your blocks.

Start thinking about what you want your background to look like.  The pattern cover shows using one fabric and their directions call for two.  But you can do piecing of any kind - maybe a bargello, or a collection of neutrals!  We'll talk about this on the 10th and will applique the buffalo onto your background on the 24th.

For both classes bring:
