Quilt 'Til You Wilt Coming Up in a Month!
Although it is still out there several weeks, I wanted to get in touch about the Quilt Til You Wilt Retreat coming up the end of March. We are planning some demos/focus groups and wanted to reach out to any of you who might have a technique, skill, or something special you would like to demonstrate or share with the other attendees. We plan to have several 15-30 minute slots during each retreat to feature anyone who wants to show something of interest to quilters. We are going to do this instead of the evening "show and tell" that we have had in previous years. If you would get back to me with what you have to share, we will put together a schedule and have it posted at the retreat so anyone interested can attend the group.
Is there anything in particular you are planning on purchasing at Lickety Stitch Quilts when you come to town? If you let us know what you are needing, we will make sure to have it in stock. I am thinking of things like gallons of Best Press, certain size or types of needles, etc...things we might not have in our regular stock or may run out of if we have a lot of people in the shop. Let us know now so we can get it on order and have it in time for the retreat.
Jane has a couple of projects for retreat planned:
1. An "Ugly Fabric Exchange"... or maybe it should be labeled "What Was I Thinking When I Bought This Fabric!" Someone else might just love it - and maybe you would love what they have. So if you have a piece at least 1/4 yd or fat quarter in size or larger you would like to bring to exchange, she will reveal the rest of her plans for this at the retreat!
2. An invitation for anyone who would like to make one or more Personal Care Bags for distribution to the local women's shelter, school, or law enforcement to give out to persons in distress who might find themselves without necessary personal care items. We are collecting small travel/sample/any size items like toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, soap, lotion, shampoo, sanitary pads, etc. to put in the bags if you have any you would like to donate. Some bag patterns that we found that might work well can be found Tote #1 here and Tote #2 here.
We had one attendee interested in finding someone to share a motel room to help with costs. If you are interested, let us know and we will make the connection.
